“But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that your fasting will not be obvious to men, but only to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”

Matthew 6: 17-18

Five Key Pointers

  1. Make a clear goal/reason for your Daniel Fast. (The flesh becomes weak in fasting, and the spirit becomes more sensitive to God. Some fast to be delivered from things they can’t seem to break free from. Some also fast to crucify the flesh—in preparation for temptation that when it comes, they are strong enough to overcome, because of that newfound trust of relying on/resting in the Lord’s strength, and the sensitivity of His nearness.)
  2. Release any unforgiveness in your heart going into a fast. (Come to the Lord with all and give it to Him.)
  3. Decide what to fast and how long. (Prayerfully ask for the Lord’s guidance and He’ll put on your heart instructions for fast.)
  4. Prayer, reading the Bible, and spending time with God during a fast are very important. (It is an intimate and holy time to seek God and walk in His ways with his help.)
  5. God rewards openly, those who fast in secret. (We don’t fast to appear more spiritual by boasting to others about it. This is a time between you and God unless it’s a corporate fast such as a church fast where everyone knows about it.)
